Foundation repair in Gardendale, Texas
Foundation help for homes in Gardendale and the northeast corner of Ector County, north of Odessa.
Gardendale is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in northeastern Ector County, about 14 miles north of downtown Odessa, with State Highway 158 along its northern edge. It had 2,020 residents in the 2020 census, up from 1,574 in 2010. It's part of the Odessa metro area and is served by Ector County ISD. If your place is on acreage with a well or septic system, mention it, since water lines and drain fields near the house affect soil moisture.
Why does the name come up in earthquake news?
The Railroad Commission of Texas named the Gardendale Seismic Response Area after this part of the Midland Basin. It runs from northeast Ector County to southwest Martin County. In September 2021, the commission asked operators of 76 permitted saltwater disposal wells there to reduce injection, after six felt earthquakes of magnitude 3.5 or larger since February 2020. Those included two magnitude 3.6 quakes northeast of Odessa. If cracks appeared right after a felt quake, note the date. A contractor will still check soil moisture, drainage and plumbing first, because those cause most movement.
Who handles permits?
Gardendale has no city government, so neither Odessa's nor Midland's permit office applies. Ask the contractor and Ector County about requirements for your address.
